Soccer is our passion. Our goal is to utilize soccer as a "cultural hook" to not only involve the players in a sport that they love but to also expose them to qualities necessary to develop and succeed. Principal objectives are teaching soccer skills from basic to advanced levels while fostering good sportsmanship, healthy eating, female empowerment, and mentoring. We use the children's passion for soccer to draw them into our supportive environment where we can provide academic support in addition to soccer instruction. While the kids come for soccer, they learn much more than just sports, and we prepare them for future success.
We provide soccer year round to over 200 inner-city children, ages 5 to 17. While we are open to all, most are from refugee or immigrant families from many countries.
We conduct two summer soccer camps at Gill Stadium in Manchester, one in June and a second in July. We are fortunate to have top-notch coaches donated by Seacoast United Soccer Club and New Hampshire Premier Soccer Academy. Free breakfast and lunches are provided by Southern New Hampshire Food Services. As with everything we do, there are no fees to participate in any of our soccer activities.
As part of our after-school program, we are adding a third day, Wednesdays from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM, for soccer only, in the gymnasium or outdoors during good weather. This is in response to the older children's requests for more soccer.
Futsal has become very popular as a specialized indoor version of soccer. We have several teams who participate in the FutsalNH league and love it. Inti teams have made the playoffs and one team in 2013 even won a championship.
During the spring and fall, we attend weekend soccer jamborees to play with and against Amherst, NH teams followed by picnics or pizza parties. We have several players on the Amherst U11 boys top team. A wonderful relationship has evolved for Inti kids with the suburban Amherst players and coaches.
Our players receive generous scholarships to attend NH Keeper Academy clinics and various soccer camps.
Special events include sponsored trips to Foxboro Stadium to watch New England Revolution professional games, SNHU soccer games with mentoring from college players, and high school games.
For the second consecutive year, U.S. Soccer Foundation has recognized Inti Academy as having one of the outstanding soccer programs in the country by awarding Inti major grants, $13,250 for 2013 and $15,000 for 2014.
